About the Role

The US Global Markets Trade Control team supports the Delta1/Equities business across listed cash equities, equity-linked products, ETFs, and related financing or swap activity. The Associate will help ensure daily trade support activities are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with established controls. The role serves as a key connection point between the trading desk and internal partner teams. Success requires strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced trade floor environment while contributing to ongoing process improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Delta1/Equities trade lifecycle across cash equities, ETFs, and related financing activity, including trade capture, allocations, and control checks.
  • Perform daily position, trade, and stock record reconciliations, investigate breaks, and partner with operations and the trading desk to resolve discrepancies promptly.
  • Build product and process knowledge across DTCC, Broadridge ADP, internal booking platforms, and other market utilities that support equities trade processing.
  • Leverage systems and data sources to support reporting, analysis, desk inquiries, and control monitoring.
  • Prepare and distribute operational reporting related to positions, breaks, fails, and trade activity for traders, management, and key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to process improvement initiatives, system enhancements, and control projects that support the growth and efficiency of the Delta1 platform.
  • Resolve trade exceptions and unmatched activity, including settlement items and reconciliation breaks involving internal systems, counterparties, brokers, and market utilities.
  • Monitor trade capture, allocations, and settlement processes to help ensure booking accuracy, appropriate escalation, and adherence to internal controls and market deadlines.
  • Coordinate across internal and external stakeholders, including trading, operations, finance, technology, and market utilities, to support day-to-day workflow and issue resolution.
  • Support account and client setup activities, including standing settlement instruction maintenance and client allocation processes, to help ensure accurate downstream processing.
  • Conduct daily activities in accordance with CIBC’s risk culture, Code of Conduct, and regulatory standards.
  • Complete all mandatory training and escalate issues as appropriate.

Requirements

  • Deliver accurate and timely trade support with limited oversight, strong attention to detail, disciplined follow-through, and awareness of downstream impacts.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce manual effort, enhance reporting, and strengthen controls in support of a scalable business platform.
  • Build effective working relationships across front office, operations, finance, and technology to keep deliverables and follow-ups on track.
  • Own recurring deliverables, escalate appropriately, and apply sound judgment in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • FINRA Series 7 or 99 required, or must be obtained after hire.
  • 3–5 years of experience in Trade Control, Trade Support, operations, or middle office within Capital Markets, preferably supporting equities, Delta1, prime services, or related products.
  • Familiarity with equities, ETFs, equity-linked products, Delta1 activity, trade capture, allocation, reconciliation, and settlement workflows.
  • Experience with DTCC, Broadridge ADP, internal booking systems, or similar platforms is an asset.
  • Strong Excel skills and comfort working with data are required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact effectively with colleagues across teams and levels of the organization.
  • Able to identify control issues, investigate exceptions, and resolve problems in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Takes ownership of daily responsibilities, escalates issues appropriately, and works effectively with colleagues to achieve shared goals.
