About the Role
The Identity & Integrity organization at Lyft is seeking software engineers to build, improve, and incorporate technologies that enhance the safety and enrichment of the community. Engineers will collaborate with product, data science, analytics, and operations teams to develop code that enables rapid iteration while focusing on delighting passengers and drivers.
Responsibilities
- Design and enhance Multi-factor authentication (MFA) experiences.
- Optimize verification funnels, including phone-based two-factor authentication (2FA), email verification, and identity provider single sign-ons (SSO).
- Oversee session management and device validation.
- Develop OAuth client provisioning and related tooling.
- Act as the frontline defense against fraudsters and phishers exploiting rider and driver accounts.
- Implement strategies to counteract risks from social engineering tactics.
- Lead the maintenance and optimization of core microservices under the Identity team.
- Manage organizational structures and multi-user management systems (RBAC, family accounts, AuthZ).
- Design solutions for preventing unauthorized driving and abuse related to recycled phone numbers.
- Balance stringent customer verification with minimal user friction.
- Write well-crafted, well-tested, readable, maintainable code.
- Promote appropriate tech and engineering best practices.
- Implement identity and security protocols to secure and protect Lyft users' data at scale.
- Partner with teams across Lyft on identity and account security initiatives.
- Unblock, effectively communicate, and obtain buy-in across teams to achieve results.
- Share knowledge through brown bags, tech talks, and evangelizing best practices.
Requirements
- 3+ years of engineering experience working in Python, GO, Java, or similar stacks.
- Experience with cloud service providers like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud (GCP), or Oracle Cloud.
- Ability to write clear, scalable design documentation.
- Relevant experience mentoring engineers on the team.
