About the Role

The Manufacturing Technical Lead (MTL) drives operational execution and technical readiness for next-generation hardware programs from concept through mass-production handoff. This role serves as the primary technical interface on the program team, bridging hardware design, software/firmware, factory NPI, and global operations. The MTL is responsible for mitigating manufacturing risks, completing hardware prototyping phases, and enforcing documentation and change controls.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex engineering product intents and schematic parameters into practical, execution-ready directives for Factory NPI Managers and manufacturing sites.
  • Partner with internal Front-End, Back-End, and Test Engineering Senior Managers to ensure manufacturing infrastructure, SMT lines, box build automation, and test fixtures scale with prototyping phases.
  • Partner directly with hardware Design Technical Leads and Software Engineering Program Managers to align code, firmware, diagnostics, and silicon readiness with test schedules.
  • Own the execution matrix for all early-stage engineering and validation builds (Proto, EVT, DVT, PVT), ensuring timely completion and adherence to rigorous internal quality targets.
  • Author and enforce precise build-specific Scopes of Work (SOW) defining hardware configuration baselines, build quantities, material allocations, and specific engineering test goals.
  • Manage the live tracking, logging, and technical resolution of manufacturing anomalies, ensuring engineering deviations are strictly controlled, documented, and closed.
  • Deploy NUDD reviews, golden pFMEAs, and Critical-to-Quality (CTQ) parameter monitoring to prevent downstream yield and manufacturing shortfalls.
  • Enforce rigorous change management protocols, representing operations at Change Control Boards (CCB) to ensure proper risk assessment of design tweaks or component substitutions.
  • Utilize automated tracking frameworks (e.g., Jira) to monitor build blockers, spearheading technical workarounds or executing timely escalations to management.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in hardware NPI engineering, manufacturing technical leadership, or systems program management.
  • Strong knowledge of electronic manufacturing operations (SMT, box build, system assembly, and test methodologies).
  • Experience handling complex BOM structures and configuration lifecycles.
  • Proficiency with change control systems (PLM/CCB).
  • Proficiency with bug/issue-tracking systems (Jira).
  • Experience authoring detailed technical documentation such as Scopes of Work (SOWs).
  • Duties performed in a normal office environment.
  • Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor.
  • Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator) are frequently required.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • This location is a US ITAR facility and positions will involve the release of export controlled goods.
  • Applicants will need to provide information to determine if export control exemptions or licenses must be filed.
