About the Role

The IONOS Cloud offers NFS as a managed service. You will develop and maintain it. The product is designed for high availability and redundancy, ensuring data remains accessible even if individual components fail. It runs on Kubernetes and is primarily written in Go.

Responsibilities

Develop and maintain the NFS product of IONOS Cloud.
Build and extend Kubernetes Operators to manage the product lifecycle.
Design and implement functions to ensure service high availability and redundancy, including failover.
Improve product reliability and replication.
Analyze and resolve complex issues in a highly available, distributed storage setup.
Gradually migrate legacy components without impacting existing customer environments.

Requirements

Solid Go knowledge and several years of professional software development experience.
Experience in developing Kubernetes Operators.
Sound knowledge of NFS and SMB/CIFS, with experience in ZFS and DRBD.
Experience in building highly available, redundant systems, including replication, failover, and fundamentals of distributed systems (idempotency, retries, consistency, error handling).
Deep Linux know-how, including kernel, and experience with LinuxKit and VMs (libvirt, QEMU, cloud-init).
Proficient use of Git, Docker, Shell, and CI/CD, including GitOps workflows (e.g., ArgoCD).
Experience with observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana) for monitoring availability and analyzing issues.
Daily use of AI coding assistants (e.g., Claude) in development work.
Strong analytical skills and a structured, independent working style within a team.
Willingness to undergo a security check (SÜ-2).
