About the Role

This role is critical in managing Fab-wide excursions, requiring a deep understanding of semiconductor device integration and process flows to ensure the proper disposition of non-standard material. The ideal candidate will possess a strong technical foundation, preferably with Process Integration (PIE) or Unit Process Engineering background with a commitment to quality rigor and the ability to translate complex technical failures into risk-based quality decisions. This individual will also lead continuous improvements of processes, procedures, and quality systems related to the response to quality incidents. The MQR Operations Team works closely with departments across the site including Fab Engineering, Defect Metrology, Process Integration, and Customer Engineering. We are seeking candidates with strong technical backgrounds in semiconductor processing and quality management to join a team of top-performing engineers for our Austin and/or Taylor sites.

Responsibilities

  • Lead response to fab issues and excursions.
  • Coordinate with teams across the Samsung organization to identify & contain issue root causes, contain potentially impacted wafers, assess risk, define & execute data collection plans, reach disposition decisions, and coordinate communication with customers.
  • Analyze the impact of process deviations across multiple layers and modules to determine potential risks to device performance and reliability.
  • Maintain rigorous technical documentation and quality records for all excursions, ensuring that the logic behind every disposition decision is traceable, defensible, and compliant with internal and external quality standards.
  • Collaborate in wide-ranging work with fab engineering, systems, manufacturing, support groups, and executives to ensure compliance to external and internal quality standards.
  • Lead development and deployment of medium to large-scale, cross-functional projects with visibility to company executives.
  • Lead focused meetings for root cause deep dives using Structured Problem solving (SPS) tools working with departments across the site.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD degree in EE, Materials Science, ChemE or related sciences.
  • Relevant engineering experience in semiconductor industry: four or more years with a Bachelor's; two or more years Master’s or PhD.
  • Hands-on problem solving experience using 8D methodology and quality tools.
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor process integration, device fabrication flows, and the interdependency of unit processes in a high-volume manufacturing (HVM) environment.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams to drive quality improvement initiatives.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills - proficient at applying structured problem solving methods to resolve complex issues in a semiconductor-manufacturing environment.
