About the Role
As Founding Recruiter, you will be responsible for building the team that builds Alpaca. You will recruit across every function in the company, own the entire hiring process, and develop creative, scalable ways to identify and attract exceptional talent. This role involves designing hiring processes from the ground up, and the people you bring in will directly shape the company's culture, velocity, and ability to achieve its mission.
Responsibilities
- Own recruiting across the company
- Lead full-cycle recruiting for roles across engineering, product, GTM, operations, and clinical teams
- Work directly with founders and hiring managers to define roles, build candidate pipelines, run interview processes, and close exceptional candidates
- Build creative sourcing engines
- Develop creative ways to find and engage talent, including community-building, referral systems, outbound sourcing campaigns, events, content, partnerships, and AI-powered recruiting workflows
- Turn recruiting into a competitive advantage by building systems, processes, and automations
- Implement candidate sourcing workflows, outreach sequences, interview scorecards, hiring manager training, ATS management, pipeline reporting, and offer and closing processes
- Partner closely with hiring managers to identify great talent, challenge assumptions, improve interview quality, and raise the hiring bar
- Act as a trusted thought partner rather than simply filling roles
- Tell Alpaca's story by helping candidates understand why joining Alpaca is a career-defining opportunity and communicating the mission, culture, and vision
- Build the foundation for a recruiting team by determining necessary resources, specialization, and eventually hiring future team members
Requirements
- Recruited across multiple functions, ideally including software engineering, product, operations, sales, marketing, customer success, or healthcare/clinical roles
- Excited by variety and able to quickly learn new talent markets
- Do not rely solely on inbound applications; know how to find people through creative sourcing, referrals, communities, events, research, and personalized outreach
- Thrive in environments with ambiguity and enjoy building things from scratch
- Actively use AI to improve sourcing, outreach, research, screening, scheduling, and recruiting operations
- Understand that recruiting involves helping great people make great decisions
- Build trust, understand motivations, navigate objections, and create excitement around opportunities
- Believe that a handful of exceptional hires can change the trajectory of a company
- Have strong judgment and high standards, and are willing to work hard to find the right person rather than settling
- Are energized by ambitious goals, move with urgency, and take pride in doing whatever it takes to help the company win
