- Lead enterprise Third-Party Risk Management requirements across risk scoping, due diligence, risk opinions, approvals, contracting, monitoring, reassessment and off-boarding.
- Drive simplification, common risk taxonomy, automation, entity-based due diligence and improved visibility of third-party risk.
- Partner on risk-based monitoring and second-line assurance, ensuring material or systemic control weaknesses are remediated and lessons are embedded in programme design.
- Provide subject matter leadership for material incidents and investigations, supporting Legal and accountable business leaders on disclosure, licensing, regulator engagement and remediation.
- Lead and develop a high-performing global team and a connected network of first-line risk and control owners, fostering continuous improvement and practical, risk-based decision-making.
Requirements
- A commitment to the safety and wellbeing of yourself and your team, with leadership aligned to Rio Tinto’s values.
- A law degree or equivalent, together with a recognised legal qualification.
- A minimum of 15 years’ relevant experience gained through private practice and/or senior legal, ethics, compliance or related leadership roles in complex global organisations.
- Demonstrated expertise across fraud, anti-bribery and corruption, anti-money laundering, sanctions and export control risks and programmes, including relevant legal frameworks in the United Kingdom, United States and/or Australia.
- Senior experience designing and implementing risk-based compliance frameworks and third-party risk management programmes, integrated within an enterprise ethics and compliance model.
- Strong judgement and experience advising senior leaders, leading complex and sensitive matters, and communicating clearly in ambiguous or high-risk situations.
- Experience delivering measurable improvements through data, technology, automation or innovative risk and control design.
- Proven experience leading global teams with empathy and accountability, fostering psychological safety, resilience and sustained performance.
