About the Role
Agentis Asset Management is seeking an Intermediate Accountant to join their growing team in Toronto. This role involves supporting accounting, financial reporting, and compliance for multiple infrastructure assets across Canada and the United States. You will manage month-end reporting, conduct financial analysis, and contribute to process improvements using technology and automation, with opportunities to gain exposure to financial modeling and contract management.
Responsibilities
- Manage month-end and quarter-end accounting for multiple infrastructure SPVs, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement preparation.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting activities, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, invoicing, and general ledger maintenance.
- Prepare financial reporting packages, perform budget-to-actual variance analysis, and investigate significant variances.
- Prepare and support financial and contractual compliance reporting for lenders, investors, and other stakeholders.
- Prepare year-end audit working papers, coordinate with external auditors, and support corporate tax filings.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting and reporting processes, including leveraging AI, automation, and technology to improve efficiency.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to Staff Accountants, including reviewing their work and supporting their development.
- Collaborate with Finance Managers on financial reporting, project-related matters, ad hoc analysis, and other responsibilities as required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a project-based or multi-entity environment.
- Working towards a CPA designation is preferred.
- Working knowledge of IFRS, US GAAP, and/or ASPE.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with accounting software.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage competing deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- An interest in technology, automation, and using AI tools to improve accounting and reporting processes.
