About the Role
This team is responsible for detecting, investigating, and responding to violations of terms of service, guidelines, fraudulent activities, and harmful content across Mercari's marketplace services. They also design operational procedures and formulate policies. The team prioritizes customer safety and provides feedback to legal and engineering teams to enhance platform security.
Responsibilities
- Analyze complex data and logs based on user reports and system alerts to identify malicious behavior and organized fraud patterns.
- Translate manual and AI-driven investigation findings into automated detection and scalable rules, feeding back to product teams for proactive prevention.
- Perform rapid triage and decision-making for severe policy violations and cases requiring reporting to law enforcement agencies.
Requirements
- Alignment with the mission and values of the Mercari Group and its companies.
- Minimum of 3 years of practical experience in Trust & Safety, fraud prevention, or risk operations.
- Skills in data extraction and analysis using SQL and generative AI.
- Experience leading projects from data-driven problem identification to improvement implementation.
- Ability to drive projects involving multiple departments.
