About the Role
Peregrine is seeking a Procurement Lead, their first in-house buyer, to manage purchasing across all teams, including software and IT, marketing, travel, and professional services. This role involves managing vendor relationships, negotiating deals, tracking renewals, guiding stakeholders, and ensuring cost-effective procurement of tools and services.
Responsibilities
- Manage vendor relationships
- Own negotiations and get deals over the line
- Track renewals
- Guide stakeholders through purchasing decisions
- Ensure the purchase of the right tools and services at the right price
- Own the full vendor lifecycle
- Balance business needs, commercial terms, vendor risk, and long-term partnership health
- Build procurement process where none exists
- Perform hands-on procurement work
- Coordinate security, data-privacy (DPA), and liability review with Security and Legal
Requirements
- Deeply experienced in procurement, vendor management, and commercial negotiation in a fast-moving environment
- Strong negotiator who creates leverage and holds firm on price and terms
- Effective communicator who guides stakeholders through sourcing decisions
- Comfortable buying across many categories and departments
- Focused on driving savings and better terms by cutting waste
- Organized and accurate, tracking contract details, renewals, and follow-through
- Treat vendor risk as part of the deal
- 7+ years in procurement, strategic sourcing, vendor management, or commercial negotiations
- Proven track record independently owning vendor negotiations, contract management, and renewal tracking across multiple functions and spend categories
- Experience evaluating vendors competitively and negotiating favorable pricing and terms
- Comfort influencing stakeholders, pushing back when needed, and partnering cross-functionally
- Track record of building procurement process from the ground up
- Experience coordinating vendor security and data privacy reviews and reviewing core contract risk terms with Legal/Security
- Excellent executive-level written communication, presentation, and relationship-management skills
- Located in San Francisco and willing to work in-office with key business stakeholders
- Consideration for employment for qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records pursuant to the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance
