About the Role
The Assistant Store Manager assists the Store Manager in motivating and inspiring their team to achieve store productivity goals. They help analyze sales data and develop action plans to drive top-line sales. Responsibilities include managing payroll budgets, ensuring effective utilization of team skills, and fostering a positive staff and customer experience. This role effectively manages store operations, ensuring consistency and compliance, including hiring, training, inventory management, and ordering merchandise.
Responsibilities
- Understand all company policies, procedures, standards, specifications, guidelines, and training programs.
- Ensure customers feel welcome and receive responsive, friendly, and courteous service.
- Achieve company objectives in sales, service, quality, facility appearance, sanitation, and cleanliness.
- Control cash and receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures.
- Fill in where needed to ensure customer service standards and efficient operations.
- Prepare all required paperwork, including forms, reports, and schedules.
- Hire and train new employees for the sales floor or other departments.
- Ensure all equipment is kept clean, safe, and in excellent working condition.
- Ensure all products are received in correct unit count and condition and deliveries are performed according to receiving policies.
- Schedule labor as required by anticipated business activity while meeting labor cost objectives.
- Administer prompt, fair, and consistent corrective action for policy violations.
- Comply with all federal, state, county, and municipal regulations pertaining to health, safety, and labor requirements.
- Carry out store marketing, advertising, and promotional activities and campaigns.
- Communicate and understand the predominant language(s) of the store’s trading area.
- Evaluate employee performance, arrange staff training, and develop programs to advance skills.
Requirements
- Have knowledge of service of food and beverage, generally involving at least three years of front-of-the-house operations and/or assistant management positions.
- Possess excellent math skills and have the ability to operate a cash register or POS system.
- Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time (up to 10 hours).
- Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
- Must have the stamina to work 50 to 60 hours per week.
- Must have strong interpersonal, communication skills, the ability to stay calm, and polite under pressure.
- Obtain forklift certification.
- High school diploma or equivalency degree.
- At least 2 plus years of management experience.
- Must be 18 and over.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 – 50 pounds.
- Ability to interpret, understand and follow instructions and solve problems.
- Able to work well with others as a team member.
