About the Role

We are seeking a Full Stack Engineer to build a centralized knowledge platform for our partner organizations. This role involves creating a single, role-aware entry point that consolidates reporting, a strategy library, and operational applications. The ideal candidate is a driven, curious, and innovative engineer focused on building systems for all NBA teams to leverage in driving revenue, efficiencies, and fandom. You will drive features end to end, including interface, API, and data, using Python, modern JavaScript or TypeScript, Microsoft Azure, and AI semantic layers. This is a build-from-here role with a start-up character inside a large organization, requiring you to read unfamiliar systems, make empowered decisions, and create institutional product knowledge as you build at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and ship features end to end, including Nuxt-based interfaces, Python backend services deployed as Azure services, REST APIs, and underlying data models.
  • Build search, tagging, and content discovery functionalities, including role-aware views that restrict visibility based on organization.
  • Write and optimize SQL across the data ecosystem, and build connectors and migration pipelines to transfer an enterprise document library into a structured, tagged repository at volume.
  • Build an AI semantic layer on the Azure AI platform, utilizing retrieval-augmented search and natural-language querying with Azure AI Search and Azure OpenAI models.
  • Design the ingestion path for content retrieval, including chunking, embedding, security trimming, and index maintenance.
  • Drive the enablement of business skills, advanced analytics modeling, and fan activation tools within team business platforms.
  • Share ownership of Azure environments, CI/CD, monitoring, and enterprise identity integration with the engineering team.
  • Adhere to engineering team standards, including Git and code review, automated testing, containerized local development, and documenting features, data flows, and inherited configuration.
  • Partner with product management and communicate clearly with non-technical colleagues across marketing, business operations, and analytics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience shipping production web applications as part of an engineering team, including both user-facing interfaces and backend services.
  • Demonstrated experience building and running applications on Microsoft Azure, including at least one production workload using Azure AI services.

Skills

  • Hands-on experience with the Azure AI platform (Azure OpenAI Service, Azure AI Search, and Azure AI Foundry) to build retrieval-augmented or natural-language applications.
  • Working command of the surrounding Azure stack: compute, storage, managed databases, secrets, and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Proficiency in Python.
  • Strong skills in TypeScript with a modern frontend framework.
  • REST API design.
  • Strong SQL against relational databases and cloud data platforms.
  • Practical understanding of AI application patterns (RAG, embeddings and vector search, semantic layers, tool calling, evaluation, and grounding).
  • Strong Git and collaborative development practices, including CI/CD and written documentation.
  • Ability to work in an unfamiliar codebase and cloud environment: read, extend safely, and document findings.
  • Comfort in an early-stage, start-up-style team, owning work independently and shaping process.
  • Experience at a start-up, or on a founding or early-stage product team (Preferred).
  • Azure certification (Azure AI Engineer Associate, Azure Developer Associate, or equivalent) (Preferred).
  • Experience building a centralized knowledge platform, internal data portal, or enterprise search product, including permission-aware retrieval (Preferred).
  • Experience with semantic or metric layers over a data warehouse (Preferred).
  • Experience with Snowflake, Microsoft Fabric, SharePoint and Microsoft Graph, or embedding BI content such as Tableau or Power BI with row- and role-level security (Preferred).
  • Interest in or experience with sports business (ticketing, partnerships, marketing, or analytics) (Preferred).
