About the Role
The VP Marketing & Ticketing is responsible for generating profitable demand for Cirque du Soleil’s shows and converting that demand into ticket revenue across touring and resident productions in Europe, Middle-East, Asia and the Americas. This role brings show marketing and ticketing together into one commercial system, connecting go-to-market strategy, paid media, ticketing operations, inventory, distribution and the purchase journey to deliver attendance, yield, revenue and marketing efficiency against plan, show by show and market by market.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee show marketing strategy spanning international markets, Americas touring productions and Americas resident shows.
- Own the end-to-end demand engine from onsale through launch and sustain, with one demand and revenue plan per show.
- Set market-entry and market-prioritisation logic for new territories, tours and residencies in partnership with touring and commercial planning.
- Lead marketing strategy in support of sponsorship, distribution and business development, including joint go-to-market plans with partners.
- Lead ticketing operations across the portfolio in remit, establishing consistent standards for event builds, onsales, inventory controls, access, settlement inputs and operational readiness.
- Ensure ticketing is embedded at the beginning of every show and market plan rather than treated as a downstream execution function.
- Own the commercial logic connecting inventory availability, price architecture, channel strategy and demand generation.
- Continuously improve the ticket purchase experience, reducing friction and protecting the quality of customer data and the direct relationship with audiences.
- Partner with technology and operational teams on ticketing platforms, integrations and capabilities required to support commercial performance.
- Carry full accountability for ticket revenue, attendance, yield and marketing efficiency across the portfolio in remit.
- Run a weekly sales, pacing and yield rhythm that identifies softness early enough to intervene during a run, not after it.
- Partner with the VP Growth & CRM to integrate CRM and lifecycle activity into show plans, and with Revenue Management on pricing architecture, yield strategy, discount governance and promotional guardrails.
- Use inventory, sales pace, channel performance and demand signals to drive coordinated marketing and ticketing interventions.
- Ensure performance reporting uses consistent, source-traceable definitions across regions and functions.
- Own ticket distribution and channel strategy in partnership with regional commercial teams, balancing reach with margin, customer ownership and incremental demand.
- Set clear principles for direct, partner, group and third-party channels, with commercial terms and allocations aligned to show economics.
- Ensure partnerships, tourism and distribution channels generate incremental demand rather than intercept demand that would otherwise convert directly.
- Use channel-level performance, customer quality and economics to determine where inventory and investment should be allocated.
- Own global media strategy and allocation of media investment across regions, shows and lifecycle stages.
- Set measurement standards linking paid media and ticketing outcomes to ticket sales, yield and contribution, with agreed attribution inputs from Growth & CRM and Communications.
- Define and manage the international and Americas agency ecosystem, including selection criteria, performance standards and review cadence.
- Ensure every show goes to market with a clear, differentiated proposition that is locally and culturally relevant by market and language.
- Apply the brand strategy and guardrails set by the SVP Communications and Senior Director, Brand, holding regional show marketing work to premium creative standards.
- Partner with the SVP Communications and Communications team so that earned media and show social activity support the commercial plan, while ownership of Communications remains within that division.
- Activate creator, influencer and cultural partnerships that build relevance with new audiences without dependence on discount-led demand.
- Partner with the VP Growth & CRM to ensure CRM and lifecycle marketing are embedded in every show plan to support repeat attendance, lifetime value and owned audience growth.
- Support the VP Growth & CRM in growing addressable, consented audiences, using show marketing and ticketing touchpoints to strengthen first-party data capture.
- Provide high-quality ticketing and show-performance data to Growth & CRM to support segmentation, targeting, cross-show development and customer decision-making.
- Align marketing and ticketing with guest experience and ancillary revenue objectives, including merchandise and premium offers.
- Act as the central commercial marketing and ticketing counterpart for touring operations, resident-show leadership, finance, legal, technology and HQ functions on show and market decisions.
- Ensure consistency between demand, pricing, ticket inventory, distribution, market execution and external messaging.
- Create clear decision rights and operating rhythms across show teams, Ticketing, Growth & CRM, Revenue Management, Brand, Communications and regional commercial leadership.
- Represent the portfolio’s demand, sales and ticketing picture to the CMO, executive team and Board.
- Lead the Senior Director, Ticketing and the three Regional Marketing Directors for EMEA, Touring Americas and Resident Americas, developing their teams across multiple markets, time zones and languages.
- Build a consistent operating model, capability plan and career path across the function, including onboarding for new tours and openings.
- Set functional KPIs and scorecards tied to business impact, including revenue, attendance, yield, paid mix, channel mix, marketing efficiency, conversion and launch momentum, aligned with Growth & CRM and the Commercial VPs.
- Hold demanding standards while giving teams the clarity, tools and support to meet them.
Requirements
- 15+ years in marketing, ticketing, sales or commercial leadership with multi-market international experience and direct ownership of a revenue number.
- Proven ability to run marketing and ticketing as an integrated commercial engine tied to sales, yield and profitability outcomes.
- Experience in live entertainment, sport, attractions, hospitality or another perishable-inventory business.
- Strong understanding of ticketing operations, inventory management, distribution, pricing and the customer purchase journey.
- Track record leading leaders and distributed, multi-time-zone in-house teams, including teams embedded with operations.
- Deep command of paid media strategy and budget allocation at scale, with rigorous performance measurement.
- Strong working knowledge of ticketing, inventory, distribution, pricing and yield systems, plus the ability to partner effectively with CRM specialists and make decisions with imperfect data while improving how performance is measured.
- Proven track record appointing, contracting and governing agencies and external commercial partners across multiple markets.
- Fluency in both craft and commerce: able to judge creative work and interrogate a sales pacing curve, inventory position, channel mix or media model in the same meeting.
- Executive presence with C-suite, Board and major partners.
- Proven ability to lead successfully in a matrix organisation, balancing functional leadership with the operational authority of regional Commercial VPs, within a North America-based headquarters structure.
- Fluent in English (mandatory); willingness to travel frequently across international and Americas markets.
