About the Role
This Director role is a strategic transformation position within ABB's NEMA International division, reporting to the EVP International Sales. The role is pivotal in building a scalable international business platform by strengthening alignment across Regions, Business Lines and functions, removing structural barriers to growth and driving implementation of the Stabilize-Optimize-Scale roadmap. The successful candidate will drive business transformation across regions while building scalable operating foundations, combining expertise in strategy execution, operating-model redesign, business process management, change leadership, and executive influence within a complex global matrix.
Responsibilities
- Own and drive the NEMA International transformation roadmap aligned with the Stabilize-Optimize-Scale journey, translating strategy into prioritized initiatives with clear outcomes, milestones and success measures while maintaining visibility of progress and risks to leadership.
- Act as senior integrator between NEMA International and Global Business Lines, establishing governance mechanisms and cross-functional commitments that align product, portfolio, and investment priorities with international market requirements while escalating critical dependencies that constrain growth.
- Lead resolution of systemic barriers at the interfaces between International Sales, Global Operations, IT, Finance, HR and other supporting functions, converting fragmented issues into prioritized root-cause initiatives with clear accountability and measurable outcomes.
- Serve as custodian of the NEMA International target operating model, ensuring organizational accountabilities, governance, processes, technology and capabilities evolve coherently to enable profitable international growth, from stabilization through optimization and scale, while designing the organization for future growth and acquisitions.
- Lead an executive-level International Transformation Office that manages the transformation portfolio, governance cadence, dependency view and risk escalation, mobilizing cross-functional workstreams and intervening to resolve ownership gaps, resource constraints or delayed decisions.
- Lead adoption of the new international organization and ways of working through change leadership, stakeholder engagement and capability building, while establishing a continuous improvement framework that connects frontline issues to structural business improvements and embeds continuous improvement into leadership accountability.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in business transformation, strategy execution, operating-model design, commercial excellence, enterprise program leadership or management consulting.
- Experience in an internal strategy, transformation, business excellence or consulting role.
- Demonstrated experience leading complex, cross-functional transformation across multiple geographies or business units.
- Proven ability to align senior stakeholders and functions behind a shared agenda without relying on direct authority.
- Experience translating strategy into executable roadmaps, governance, operating mechanisms and measurable outcomes.
- Strong business acumen and ability to connect transformation to customer value, growth, margin, cash, productivity and organizational capability.
- Excellent executive communication, facilitation and synthesis skills.
- Ability to constructively challenge established practices and navigate ambiguity with pace and judgement.
- Familiarity with international commercial models, CRM/ERP environments and end-to-end customer processes.
- Experience in an industrial, manufacturing, electromechanical or B2B technology environment is an advantage.
