About the Role
Sid Harvey’s, an HVAC wholesale distributor, is seeking a full-time HVAC Counter Sales professional for its Farmingdale, New York location. This role focuses on providing excellent customer service, assisting customers with purchases, processing orders efficiently, and generating sales through up-selling and add-on strategies.
Responsibilities
- Assist customers promptly and courteously at the counter, answer questions, and provide necessary information.
- Process customer orders efficiently and generate sales through excellent customer service, add-on, and up-selling techniques.
- Conduct all job responsibilities in a safe, timely, and efficient manner, representing the company professionally.
- Maintain a professional and ethical demeanor, treating all customers and associates with courtesy and respect.
- Effectively promote company products to encourage customer up-selling.
- Perform data entry and retrieval on the computer system, including customer orders, branch transfers, quotations, inventory, and pricing.
- Follow up on customer orders, resolve issues to customer satisfaction, and respond promptly.
- Notify the Branch Manager of missed opportunities, such as out-of-stock or unavailable merchandise.
- Answer telephones professionally, assist customers, take orders, and provide excellent customer service.
- Provide product/job quotes as appropriate.
- Demonstrate and continuously update knowledge of company products (Air Conditioning, Refrigeration, Heating) and their applicability.
- Communicate relevant company policies and procedures regarding purchases, returns, and credit terms to customers.
- Assist in maintaining the appearance of the branch, including cleaning counter areas and warehouses.
- Report back orders and material discrepancies.
- Perform cycle counts accurately.
- Perform all duties safely, following all safety rules, and report potentially hazardous conditions to management.
- Assist in year-end physical inventories.
- Perform other responsibilities as directed.
Requirements
- Regularly required to stand; walk; carry and/or reach.
- Regularly required to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Occasionally required to lift up to 100 lbs.
- Regularly required to talk or hear.
- Regularly required to read and identify numbers for accurate order filling, receiving, and payment processing.
- Required to apply sound reasoning and logic in performing daily tasks.
- Must be able to safely operate a forklift and/or pallet jack.
- Must be able to pass a drug test.
