About the Role

As a Power Systems Engineering Intern on Base’s Risk & Trading team, you’ll help model how our network of distributed residential batteries interacts with the grid, at both the distribution and transmission levels. You will work alongside power systems engineers on power flow studies, grid models, and analysis of battery deployment and dispatch. The studies and tools you build will be used by operations and business development teams and can shape how we work with utilities and grid operators. You’ll own a scoped project end to end, from defining the study and building the model to presenting your findings.

Responsibilities

  • Help design and run power flow studies for Base battery aggregation use cases.
  • Build and validate distribution and transmission system models.

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, or a related technical field.
  • Coursework, research, or project experience in power systems: power flow, per-unit systems, and three-phase analysis.
  • A strong foundation in linear algebra and numerical methods.
  • A strong ownership mindset and the ability to clearly explain assumptions, methods, and results.
