About the Role
Blanc Labs is seeking a Software Engineer to build across the full stack, including backend services, web interfaces, and AI agents. This role offers the opportunity to take features from idea to production and solve complex problems in a dynamic environment, backed by an established firm.
Responsibilities
- Build and ship features across the platform: backend services, APIs, and the Next.js interfaces.
- Develop agent capabilities, including prompt assembly, tool and function calling, streaming responses, and conversation state.
- Integrate real-time voice and messaging channels (telephony, SMS, web).
- Design data models and migrations with care for consistency and safe change.
- Build background jobs and outbound processing with clear retry and failure handling.
- Instrument services with logging, metrics, and tracing, and debug issues end to end.
- Bring ideas to the roadmap and prototype new agent capabilities.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of professional software engineering experience, with production code shipped and supported.
- Strong Python, including asynchronous programming (asyncio, FastAPI, or similar).
- Experience with React and TypeScript.
- Comfort with relational databases (PostgreSQL), SQL, and migrations.
- Hands-on experience building with LLMs, professionally or through side projects.
- Working knowledge of Docker and a major cloud platform (Azure preferred).
- A habit of figuring things out: reading the docs, testing hypotheses, and asking good questions.
