About the Role
As a Part-Time Security Officer, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter security-related incidents, and support a welcoming campus environment. You will interact professionally with students, staff, and visitors while providing exceptional customer service and communication.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to students, faculty, staff, visitors, and/or contractors while carrying out site-specific procedures and security-related policies.
- Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of campus buildings, parking areas, walkways, and perimeter areas to help identify and report unusual activity, hazards, or maintenance concerns.
- Respond to incidents, alarms, and critical situations in a calm, problem-solving manner, following site procedures and contacting appropriate campus personnel or emergency responders as needed.
- Monitor access points and visitor activity, assist with directions and general information, and report unauthorized access or policy concerns.
- Prepare clear, accurate reports and maintain activity logs for incidents, patrol observations, and security-related matters.
Requirements
- Have at least one year of security-related experience.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
- Be comfortable using a computer or tablet.
- Have customer service experience.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
