About the Role
The Fund Accounting Manager is responsible for accounting, financial, and performance reporting for Endeavor funds, managing the relationship and workflow with an offshore accounting team. This role requires a deep understanding of GAAP, fund accounting, financial analysis, and the real estate industry, demanding attention to detail to support team objectives.
Responsibilities
- Act as primary liaison between onshore leadership and offshore accounting team.
- Monitor workload allocation and deliverable metrics to drive timeliness and accountability of the offshore accounting team.
- Provide guidance and training to offshore staff, ensuring quality control across their deliverables.
- Establish processes, controls, and accounting templates as needed across the funds.
- Review and approve detailed transactional entries and reconciliations for month and quarter-end closing procedures.
- Review 35 bank reconciliations prepared by the offshore team.
- Review equity and construction draws, working with the offshore team to prepare funding for approved projects.
- Collaborate on the review of fund financials, ensuring timely delivery of debt and guarantor reporting, investor financial reporting, and ad hoc reporting requests.
- Perform final review of quarterly fund accounting calculations for NAV, management fees, capital calls, and distributions.
- Work closely with the Investor Relations team to address investor inquiries regarding capital calls, distributions, and audit confirmations.
- Collaborate with internal development teams on asset acquisitions and dispositions, supporting documentation and significant transactions.
- Coordinate with the fund tax preparer and controller on quarterly tax estimates, K-1 preparation and review, and Federal + State filings.
- Support annual fund audits, review AFS and footnote disclosures, and ensure timely completion.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement changes within the fund accounting team.
- Collaborate with internal and external business partners in researching technical accounting guidance.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) in Finance, Accounting, Business or a related field from a four-year college or university.
- 5+ years of accounting experience.
- Public accounting experience highly desirable.
- Excellent knowledge base of GAAP with extensive understanding of income statements, balance sheets, general ledger, and consolidation.
- Ability to communicate and educate others on complex accounting principles.
- Embraces decision making and has the aptitude to act accordingly.
- Handles confidential information while using discretion in decision making.
- Must be highly organized and excellent at task and time management to achieve timely team deliverables.
- Communicates effectively (both oral & written) and builds positive and productive relationships within the organization.
