About the Role

We are seeking a Software Developer with a strong quality mindset, passionate about modern, AI-driven development methods to radically accelerate the testing, validation, and deployment of our cloud applications. In this role, you will leverage AI tools and agent-based workflows to automate test processes, generate dynamic specifications, and eliminate repetitive friction in quality assurance for our cloud control panels, APIs, and microservices.

Responsibilities

• AI-driven test automation: Utilize AI for rapid creation, maintenance, and expansion of automated test suites for IONOS Cloud applications and APIs.
• QA lifecycle automation: Implement AI-driven solutions to generate synthetic test data, analyze error logs, and optimize defect classification.
• Specification-driven development with AI: Use API schemas (OpenAPI/Swagger) and functional specifications as a foundation to inspire, generate, and validate tests and code before merging features.
• Application and platform validation: Design end-to-end and integration test frameworks (using Python, Pytest, and modern API/UI runners) for cloud control panels, backend microservices, and provisioning workflows.
• CI/CD integration and pipeline integrity: Integrate automated test workflows into GitLab CI/GitHub Actions to ensure fast feedback loops and consistently eliminate flaky tests.
• Continuous process innovation: Continuously evaluate and experiment with new AI tools, agents, and frameworks that enhance team productivity and system reliability.

Requirements

• Professional experience in software quality assurance, test automation, or software development in test (SDET).
• "AI-First" mindset: Daily, hands-on experience using AI coding assistants and LLMs to write code, generate test data, or automate routine tasks.
• Proficiency in formulating effective prompts, critically reviewing generated results, and bypassing tedious standard code passages. Experience developing custom CLI utilities is a plus.
• Strong automation competency: Solid programming skills and extensive experience with test automation. Experience with Pytest, TypeScript, or contract testing (e.g., Pact) is a plus.
• Specification-based API testing: Experience testing RESTful APIs and distributed microservices derived directly from formal specifications.
• Cloud and container-native: Comfortable with Linux environments, Docker containers, Kubernetes, and core cloud concepts (IaaS, PaaS, networking, and virtual machines).
• CI/CD expertise: Hands-on experience integrating automated test stages into GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, or comparable CI pipelines.
• Commitment to quality: Strong critical thinking skills paired with a "builder" mentality – proactively uncover edge cases, question requirements early, and optimize developer feedback loops.
• Security screening (SÜ2): Willingness to undergo an extended security screening (SÜ2).
