About the Role

Validus is seeking a talented engineer to join our front-end development team, responsible for designing and developing web applications using React. This role is part of a broader technology team collaborating with quants, back-end, and platform engineers to enhance our Horizon platform, which serves alternative asset managers in private equity, private debt, and real estate.

Responsibilities

Deliver new features with high standards and test coverage for Validus applications, including order and risk management systems.
Collaborate with other teams on features spanning multiple parts of the stack.
Provide thorough code reviews and pair programming.
Improve UI and UX across the product range to enhance ease-of-use and maintain design consistency.
Participate in agile ceremonies, including daily stand-ups, backlog refinement, estimation, and retrospectives.
Contribute ideas on the current technology stack and participate in discussions about changes, such as state management or API call management.
Help establish technical foundations for real-time communication between back-end and front-end using WebSockets.
Build upon and improve the Nx monorepo implementation, built with Vite.
Utilize Zustand, React Query (TanStack), and React Router for state, data management, and routing.
Develop real-time data components, such as market data graphs using HighCharts.
Use HandsOnTable for displaying large datasets, focusing on performance to provide an 'excel'-like user experience.
Employ front-end monitoring and session replay to understand feature behavior and troubleshoot issues.
Integrate AI tooling into the daily workflow, taking ownership of AI-generated output, including review and understanding.
Develop AI workflows that enhance consistency and scalability, contributing to DevOps and testing skills for end-to-end feature validation.
Propose AI applications for front-end scalability, such as turning designs into components, ensuring interface consistency, and reducing repetition in screen building.
Connect tools, integrating design tools like Figma into the development flow and wiring systems via MCP for end-to-end agent functionality.

Requirements

Strong TypeScript knowledge.
Strong React knowledge.
Experience with state management libraries, such as Zustand.
Ability to write clean, maintainable, and testable code.
Experience with automated testing and testing frameworks like Vitest and Playwright.
Experience consuming and shaping REST API contracts, including working with OpenAPI specifications.
Ability to implement styles using CSS.
Real experience with AI-assisted development and a clear understanding of its benefits and limitations.
Exposure to, or clear interest in, agentic workflows and tool use over MCP.
Curiosity about financial markets and an appetite to learn the domain.
Ability to take ownership of work independently.
Good communication skills for cross-discipline environments.
Preferred: Experience with financial risk management software or platforms.
