About the Role
We are seeking a friendly, reliable, and enthusiastic individual for a varied role at Rocket Padel Beckton, combining kitchen duties with club hosting and customer service. This position involves preparing and serving food, welcoming guests, and supporting the club's daily operations. We welcome applications from kitchen assistants and experienced cooks or chefs interested in customer-facing roles.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, cook, and serve food from the club menu, with responsibilities matched to experience and training.
- Ensure food is served promptly and meets quality and presentation standards.
- Maintain a clean and organised kitchen, including washing up, equipment cleaning, and opening/closing duties.
- Support stock checks, deliveries, ordering, and stock rotation to minimise waste.
- Contribute ideas for menu improvements and seasonal dishes.
- Check kitchen equipment and report faults or maintenance concerns promptly.
- Support catering for tournaments, corporate bookings, and private events.
- Train and support colleagues with food preparation and kitchen procedures, where appropriate.
- Welcome players and visitors, creating a friendly and professional first impression.
- Support reception, bookings, check-ins, and customer enquiries.
- Take food and drink orders, serve customers, and process payments.
- Assist customers with equipment hire, retail purchases, and general club information.
- Keep reception, dining, and shared customer areas clean, tidy, and presentable.
- Coordinate kitchen and front-of-house service with colleagues.
- Respond professionally to customer feedback and refer concerns to the duty manager.
- Assist with event setup, delivery, and clearing down.
- Promote relevant club activities, services, and products to customers.
- Follow company policies and procedures, including Health & Safety, Food Safety and Hygiene, COSHH, allergen awareness, and safe working practices.
- Follow the club’s safeguarding procedures and report any concerns promptly.
Requirements
- Previous experience in a kitchen, café, restaurant, or hospitality environment.
- An interest in both food preparation and customer-facing club hosting.
- A friendly manner and strong communication skills.
- Good organisation, reliability, and attention to cleanliness.
- The ability to work calmly during busy periods and support colleagues.
- An understanding of food hygiene and safe food handling.
- A flexible approach to duties and willingness to learn.
- Previous cooking or chef experience (preferred).
- A relevant food hygiene or catering qualification (preferred).
- Experience in reception, customer service, bar, or café operations (preferred).
- An interest in padel, sport, fitness, or hospitality (preferred).
