About the Role

Drivemode is seeking a Senior Data Analyst to transform vehicle telemetry and user behavior data into actionable insights for product enhancement. This individual contributor role within Engineering collaborates closely with the Analytics Product Manager and Product/Engineering teams, working with a preprocessed data layer in Snowflake to build models, dashboards, and analyses. The role involves translating business questions into defined problems and recommendations, particularly concerning user behavior and UX improvements, and fostering a data-driven culture by identifying opportunities, enhancing data quality, and driving measurable product improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Analytics Product Manager and stakeholders to frame business questions, assess data capabilities, and deliver analyses and recommendations for product decisions.
  • Build and maintain intermediate and analysis-ready data models, along with reference dashboards.
  • Create and maintain data quality checks, documentation, and a data catalog.
  • Highlight data availability, quality, and effort impacts on project prioritization.
  • Own the quality and maintainability of models and analyses, collaborating to improve data quality and analytical capabilities.
  • Use statistical reasoning and experimental design principles to differentiate meaningful effects from noise.
  • Proactively identify analytical opportunities and communicate findings to support product improvements and data-driven decisions.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in data analysis or product analytics, preferably in organizations with mature data practices.
  • Experience with high-volume, evolving, and imperfect datasets, including investigating data quality and tracking issues.
  • Ability to frame problems, define hypotheses and metrics, and translate analysis into actionable recommendations.
  • Solid foundation in statistics and experimental design, including causal inference.
  • Advanced SQL proficiency.
  • Proficiency in Python or R.
  • Hands-on analytical data modeling (dimensional/Kimball, One Big Table, or other approaches) with dbt or an equivalent framework.
  • Product analytics experience with event-based tools (e.g., Amplitude, Mixpanel).
  • Strong BI skills (e.g., Superset, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proactive, structured approach to data initiatives and stakeholder alignment.
  • Comfort with engineering workflows such as git, code review, and continuous delivery.
  • Japanese proficiency sufficient for professional discussions with external stakeholders.
