About the Role

We are seeking a hands-on Senior Hardware Engineer with expertise in high-speed mixed-signal design to research, design, develop, and test custom instrumentation for our quantum computing control systems. In this role, you will represent the Control Systems team, working closely with Quantum Engineering to integrate, deploy, and support this hardware in our quantum computers.

Responsibilities

  • Design high-level system architectures for instruments, focusing on analog and RF front-end designs, including signal conditioning, amplification, DAC/ADC selection, power and clocking schemes, and control/monitoring circuitry.
  • Own the research, simulation, prototyping, evaluation, and design of high-speed mixed-signal front ends for driving high-speed, high-resolution analog signals for quantum computer control.
  • Collaborate with software, quantum, laser, optical, and systems engineers to understand system needs and define hardware design requirements.
  • Perform board-level circuit design, schematic capture, and PCB layout using Altium Designer.
  • Actively participate in the bring-up, verification, and testing of control system hardware, collaborating with FPGA, firmware, and software engineers.

Requirements

  • Completed at least one full hardware design cycle, from concept to initial board bring-up.
  • Mixed-signal design experience.
  • Working knowledge of PCB design best practices and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with electronic test equipment for prototype bring-up and debug.
  • Experience working with complex ICs (FPGAs, processors) requiring multiple power supplies, high-speed buses, and memory interfaces.
  • Self-motivated, collaborative, and driven to work effectively in a startup environment.
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a diverse team.
