About the Role

As a founding member of the New Product Introduction (NPI) team, you will be instrumental in transforming cutting-edge sensing technologies into robust, market-ready systems. You will help define core assembly and test protocols, build repeatable processes, and scale novel hardware from prototypes to finished products.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble, integrate, characterize, and troubleshoot complex electrical, mechanical, and optical subsystems.
  • Build, configure, and modify complex prototypes, integrating subsystems into complete quantum sensing products.
  • Set up, calibrate, and operate test instrumentation for functional, performance, reliability, and environmental validation.
  • Investigate integration defects and anomalies, collaborating to isolate root causes and verify corrective actions.
  • Draft and refine work instructions, assembly guides, and test protocols, maintaining records of build configurations and test data.
  • Evaluate early-stage builds to identify assembly bottlenecks and suggest design and tooling improvements.
  • Help organize and maintain an NPI lab, building custom test fixtures and managing equipment.

Requirements

  • Relevant technical qualifications (e.g., Certificate III/IV, Diploma, or trade background) or equivalent practical experience assembling, integrating, and maintaining complex electromechanical, optical, or instrumentation systems.
  • Proactive, self-driven attitude with eagerness to learn novel technologies, embrace ambiguity, and take initiative.
  • Methodical, evidence-based approach to investigating anomalies using measured data and observations.
  • Practical experience operating standard lab tools (e.g., oscilloscopes, DMMs, power supplies, DAQ systems) to run structured validation tests.
  • Comfort interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams, and CAD drawings.
  • Commitment to maintaining meticulous build records and clear technical documentation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to partner effectively across engineering and research disciplines.
