- Manage interview schedules, coordinate with CBC colleagues on shared coverage, and ensure safety protocols are followed.
- Fact-check and verify names, locations, and translations against tight deadlines, ensuring adherence to CBC News Journalistic Standards and Practices.
- Verify video and other user-generated or third-party content.
- Produce original content, defining the visual style, pace, tempo, and format for live and on-demand content, including packaged items, photo galleries, soundscapes, and current affairs.
- Drive production methods incorporating the latest visual storytelling trends, practices, tools, and techniques, with a willingness to experiment with creative technology.
- Perform location surveys and identify special requirements such as audio, lighting, camera angles, and equipment, including production limitations.
Requirements
- Seasoned video-journalist with at least five (5) years of directly related investigative or enterprise experience.
- Ability to perform in a deadline-driven, high-pressure environment while balancing speed with accuracy and balance.
- Proven record of highly creative, innovative visual storytelling.
- Deep appreciation for diversity of perspective, opinion, and experience, with a commitment to seeking out voices from underrepresented groups.
- Strong sense of creativity, initiative, and a high degree of responsibility for the accuracy and quality of work throughout the production cycle.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and client service skills.
- Ability to work independently in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a professional attitude.
- Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to pursue story elements with minimal supervision.
- Ability and willingness to work overtime and various shift patterns, including overnights and weekends.
- Must include at least two examples of packaged short-form video and packaged vertical video stories produced.
- Must include a cover letter explaining interest in the role and how experience will support the new unit.
