About the Role

As a Senior Analytics Engineer at Topps Digital, part of Fanatics, you will bridge raw data and business decisions, owning everything from BI dashboards to AI-powered insights. This role requires a self-motivated and intellectually curious individual who challenges assumptions and brings innovative thinking. You will act as a thought leader, partnering with functional leads to shape performance understanding and decision-making.

Responsibilities

  • Lead complex, cross-functional analytical initiatives end-to-end, from ambiguous business problems through scoping, analysis, and decision-ready recommendations.
  • Conduct analyses to validate business opportunities and support key decisions, including scenario analysis and impact sizing.
  • Apply statistical rigor and structured problem-solving to business questions, explaining root causes and recommending actions.
  • Present findings to stakeholders and senior leadership, defending methodology.
  • Diagnose root causes in the data and translate findings into concrete, actionable recommendations.
  • Build and maintain dashboards, automated reporting, and AI-driven insight tools within the Databricks ecosystem.
  • Optimize and automate operational workflows, reducing reliance on manual data pulls and decisioning.
  • Define KPI definitions and methodology, then build underlying pipelines and visualizations.
  • Standardize reporting and unify processes across cross-functional teams.
  • Build and maintain a source of truth for internal business questions.
  • Build and maintain a knowledge repository to support the business's AI chat agent.
  • Design and build the logic powering the chat agent's ability to answer business questions accurately.
  • Build evaluation frameworks and guardrails for the chat agent's operational independence.

Requirements

  • 6+ years of experience in analytics engineering, business intelligence, or a related field.
  • Advanced SQL skills, with the ability to independently write, QA, and optimize complex queries against large, imperfect datasets.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data infrastructure, including AWS services and the Databricks platform (e.g., Delta Lake, Databricks SQL, and workflow orchestration).
  • Demonstrated experience owning complex, cross-functional projects end-to-end, from ambiguous ask to stakeholder-ready recommendations.
  • Experience integrating AI tools into analytics workflows.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience with project management tools such as Asana or Jira, and familiarity with agile frameworks.
  • Command of statistical methods, such as experimental design/hypothesis testing, regression analysis, causal inference, time-series forecasting, multivariate analysis, segmentation/clustering, and Bayesian methods, applied through structured problem-solving frameworks for business analysis.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with demonstrated experience presenting to leadership and senior stakeholders, translating complex problems clearly, and proposing alternative approaches when the data warrants it.
  • An insistence on the highest standards of data quality and accuracy, catching issues before they surface in leadership reporting.
