About the Role
You'll be Foresight's first dedicated designer, defining how people build critical infrastructure with AI. You will reinvent the product by building expertise directly into the software, creating experiences for owners, GCs, and suppliers. This is a hands-on generalist role for the first 6-12 months, involving research, interaction design, visual design, and the design system. As the team grows, you'll help hire and shape future designers, with opportunities to lead the function.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery in the field by engaging with owner executives, project controls leads, GC planners, and site teams to understand decision-making processes and identify issues.
- Prototype in code using technologies like React, Cursor, or Claude Code to rapidly test and validate ideas with customers.
- Design the human-agent loop, determining when agents should act autonomously and when they should involve a human, ensuring AI output is trustworthy.
- Design multi-party experiences that cater to the distinct needs of owners, GCs, trades, suppliers, and investors, ensuring engagement and project advancement.
- Own key product areas end-to-end, from initial concept to production, collaborating closely with engineers and monitoring post-launch impact.
- Build the foundational design language, system, and principles for Foresight, establishing a visual and interaction standard that simplifies complex data.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience designing and shipping software, including complex B2B, data-heavy, or enterprise products.
- Excellent discovery skills, capable of running customer conversations, identifying core problems, and influencing product direction.
- Proficiency in prototyping with code for rapid customer validation without engineering dependency.
- Experience designing for AI or automation, with insights into trust, explainability, and autonomous actions.
- Ability to translate dense, ambiguous information into easily understandable interfaces.
- Experience as an early or sole designer, comfortable setting standards, making decisions without a playbook, and handling all aspects of design.
- Ability to hold strong opinions loosely and collaborate effectively with engineers, sales, and customers.
- A passion for the physical world and a desire for work to manifest in tangible outcomes.
- Experience designing for deep domain experts in fields like scheduling, project controls, and construction management.
- Experience in construction, energy, infrastructure, logistics, or related industries where software intersects with the physical world (bonus).
- Experience designing agent workflows that are currently in production (bonus).
