About the Role

ENTERTAINMENT TONIGHT is seeking a Social Media Producer, Instagram to join their social media team. This role is crucial for maintaining ET's position as a top pop culture and entertainment news destination on Instagram. The ideal candidate has a passion for entertainment news, a strong point of view on storytelling for the platform, and the ability to adapt quickly to news cycles.

Responsibilities

Produce 6–10 Instagram posts daily, including graphic design, video clipping, and copywriting, with independent editorial judgment.
Monitor the entertainment news cycle and pitch stories with high social engagement potential.
Write both long-form captions adhering to newswriting best practices and short, social-first captions in the ET voice.
Collaborate with producers, editors, and field teams to align Instagram coverage with ET's on-air and digital storytelling.
Stay updated on Instagram trends and best practices to maintain brand relevance and be a first mover on news.
Track and report on social media performance, providing insights and strategic recommendations.
Work occasional night and weekend shifts for major events.

Requirements

Journalism background, preferably in a digital newsroom.
4+ years of experience in social or digital media.
Deep knowledge of the current entertainment news landscape, pop culture, internet culture, and celebrity media.
Strong command of Instagram, with knowledge of emerging best practices on TikTok, X, Facebook, and YouTube Shorts.
News producing experience, including story selection and journalistic best practices.
Proficiency in Photoshop and Premiere or other video editing software.
Excellent news judgment and a drive to be first and best on social media.
Ability to multitask and re-prioritize quickly around breaking news.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate concisely and professionally in a dynamic, collaborative environment.
