About the Role
Scale is building the reliable AI applications that government and enterprises will run on, playing a foundational role in the UK's shift to AI. This role focuses on growing Scale's UK business by partnering with technical stakeholders to identify and win opportunities across public sector and enterprise. You will be at the center of the go-to-market effort, combining business development with bid and tender work in a dynamic environment. This is a technical, commercially minded role for someone curious about AI and data, able to explain technical ideas clearly, and seeking real responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Work with the UK Public Sector Lead, UK leadership, government relations and the wider team on go-to-market strategy across central government, defence & security, and enterprise.
- Research target departments and enterprise accounts, map key stakeholders, and build target lists, outreach and pipeline.
- Break into UK enterprise by identifying target sectors and accounts, engaging commercial buyers, and managing deals outside of public procurement.
- Build relationships and partnerships with government, ecosystem, and channel partners to create new opportunities.
- Help customers across government and enterprise identify impactful AI use cases and shape their AI vision.
- Manage framework applications and tenders end-to-end, including PQQs, RFIs, and RFPs, and gain expertise in UK public sector procurement processes.
- Develop pitches, proposals, and executive-level documents with clear business cases, adapting strategies for enterprise buyers and sales cycles.
- Participate in customer meetings, address questions, and define clear next steps to move opportunities toward signed deals.
- Take on market-driven needs in a small, dynamic team environment.
Requirements
- At least 5 years in business development, bids, consulting, strategy, or advisory roles, with some 0-to-1 or market-entry experience.
- A genuine interest in AI and data, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in using AI tooling for research, analysis, and drafting to enhance speed and efficiency without compromising quality.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
- Excellent writing skills, particularly under deadline pressure, including the creation of executive-level materials.
- Good commercial instincts to identify customer challenges and build business cases for AI solutions.
- The ability to earn trust and build strong working relationships with colleagues and stakeholders.
- High energy levels, comfort with ambiguity and fast pace, and a willingness to undertake any task.
- A commitment to the potential of AI for government, public services, and industry.
