About the Role
The Yonge Street Mission Davis Centre Daycare is seeking a part-time Kitchen Assistant to work 16 hours per week. This role is crucial in ensuring children are provided with healthy, nutritious food to support their growth and development.
Responsibilities
- Heating food, assembling snacks, cutting fruit/vegetables, portioning food, and delivering food to classrooms, including for children with special dietary needs.
- Ensuring safe food storage and disposal, including maintaining temperature logs.
- Complying with all public health regulations and best practices for daycares.
- Following proper washing and sanitizing procedures for all dishware.
- Maintaining the kitchen cleaning schedule, including daily, weekly, and monthly duties.
Requirements
- Post-secondary education.
- Good English communication skills, both oral and written.
- Good interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Must be 18 years old and able to commit to 16 hours per week (15 hours in the kitchen and 1 hour for staff meetings).
- Demonstrate personal commitment to YSM’s principles of faith, mission, and values.
