About the Role
Heidi Systems is hiring a senior engineer to own DevOps and data infrastructure. You will be responsible for system build, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance, making architectural decisions with the founders.
Responsibilities
- Own our deployment pipeline and production environment, end to end (CI/CD, containers, servers)
- Manage monitoring, alerting, and incident response
- Handle data ingestion and processing for meter, gateway, and building data, including MQTT/IoT streams
- Perform database operations: Postgres setup, clustering, backups, performance
- Manage backend services in Go and TypeScript
- Validate and transform high-volume device and consumption data
- Debug real-world issues across gateways, MQTT, APIs, and databases
- Develop internal tooling that automates operations
- Make architecture decisions with the founding team and establish engineering standards
Requirements
- Several years of hands-on experience in a DevOps, SRE, platform, or backend role with production responsibility
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and containerized deployments
- Proficiency in writing Go and/or TypeScript
- Experience running Postgres (or a comparable relational database) in production
- Experience setting up monitoring and logging and handling real incidents
- Ability to design a system from scratch and defend the choices
