About the Role
Harvey's Finance Engineering team consists of former investment professionals who leverage their deal experience to support Harvey's prospects and customers. Forward Deployed Finance Engineers lead discovery, demos, pilots, trainings, onboarding, and custom builds, acting as a trusted advisor throughout the customer lifecycle. This role is the first Finance Engineer dedicated to private credit, responsible for building the credit playbook and leading live pilots.
Responsibilities
- Lead discovery, demos, pilots, trainings, onboarding, and custom builds alongside AEs and CSMs.
- Translate real investment work into Harvey solutions.
- Serve as the trust layer across the entire customer lifecycle.
- Build the credit playbook, including demo library, workflow templates, and use cases.
- Run live pilots with direct lenders, opportunistic and specialty finance managers, BDC managers, and insurer credit arms.
- Lead the credit practice as the team grows.
- Engage with lenders throughout the pre-sales process and beyond.
- Guide lenders through AI possibilities.
- Sit down with credit teams to build screening, underwriting, and credit committee workflows.
- Perform lender presentation and CIM review.
- Conduct QoE read-throughs and data pack analysis.
- Perform cash flow and leverage modeling.
- Handle sizing and structuring.
- Review covenant and credit agreements.
- Draft credit memos.
- Analyze comps.
- Perform compliance certificate review.
- Track covenants.
- Analyze amendments and waivers.
- Conduct quarterly portfolio reporting.
- Bring credit team feedback into the product to shape future releases.
Requirements
- 6+ years on the investment or underwriting team at a direct lender, private credit fund, BDC manager, or insurer private credit arm.
- Demonstrated ownership of live deal work: screening, underwriting, diligence workstreams, modeling, structuring, and drafting credit committee materials.
- Strong command of documents and data driving credit decisions.
- Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills.
- Comfort with prompting and agentic AI workflows.
- A builder's instinct for turning repeated manual processes into repeatable automation.
- Executive presence and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to establish credibility from analysts through to partners and credit committee members.
- Outstanding communication and presentation skills.
- Deep curiosity about AI's potential to transform investment work.
- Practical, solutions-oriented mindset and bias toward action.
- Track record partnering with senior stakeholders to drive results.
- Curiosity for testing approaches and optimizing for customer outcomes.
