About the Role
We are a startup digital agency focused on an agentic-first approach, designing and building custom solutions on platforms like Shopify and Next.js. We create highly customized sites with a focus on performance and feel, and design full platforms, AI tools, and integrations across various industries. AI is integrated into our work through our own products, with a focus on code as the final artifact rather than just design files.
Responsibilities
- Own entire projects or major workstreams across product, content, and brand in product, defining what "done" means.
- Shape the main creative idea and drive design direction across all surfaces.
- Design AI-native experiences including conversational UX, prompt-aware patterns, and agentic flows.
- Own the design system architecture of a project, including tokens, components, governance, and handover documentation.
- Prototype in code when it's the faster way to an answer.
- Run design QA against the live implementation.
- Act as the primary design contact for the client, leading workshops and handling client conversations.
- Defend quality and say no when needed.
- Lead project teams of two to five designers and adjacent crafts.
- Review and sign off on the work of junior and intermediate designers.
- Mentor Junior and Intermediate designers.
- Use AI to define new ways of working and share findings with the team.
- Represent OH-SO externally with case studies, talks, and articles.
Requirements
- Fluent German (C1 or native) and very good English.
- Typically 5+ years of designing digital products, with a portfolio showing end-to-end ownership.
- Recognised expertise in two or three areas such as AI-native design, design systems, brand in product, or communication design.
- Hands-on experience designing for generative or agentic AI.
- AI as a daily working tool for research, exploration, prototyping, and production.
- A working understanding of modern web development: components, states, responsive layout, performance, and animation in React and Next.js.
- Ability to read code, prototype in it, and talk with engineers in their terms.
- Expert Figma skills (auto layout, variables, components, Dev Mode, Code Connect).
- Experience building design systems that engineering teams adopt and maintain.
- Writing as part of the design process, including copy for AI-driven interfaces.
- Accessibility built in from the start (WCAG).
- Habit of testing and validating work and turning findings into design decisions.
- Ability to translate business goals into design decisions, make trade-offs explicit, and stand by decisions.
- Confidence facilitating workshops, design sprints, and critiques with clients, strategy, and engineering.
