About the Role

As a Senior Lead Consultant for Tax & Finance, you will be responsible for the technical quality of major projects within the tax and finance administration. A key focus is on collaborative projects in the KONSENS environment, where you will technically guide concepts, architectures, and implementation. You will also support the replacement of legacy systems, standardization of tax procedures down to municipal enforcement, and rollout across the country. You will combine in-depth expertise with a clear focus on user needs and feasibility, and assist sales with proposals.

Responsibilities

• Take on technical leadership responsibility in large tax and finance administration projects, particularly in collaborative KONSENS projects.
• Ensure quality, feasibility, and controllability, and contribute expertise systematically to projects.
• Support the replacement of established systems in customs and finance administration and shape the change for users in collaboration with change and process consulting.
• Develop concepts for standardizing tax procedures down to municipal enforcement and rolling them out nationwide.
• Support states and municipalities with implementation.
• Be responsible for improving usability in administrative processes, for example, through UX/UI concepts, tests, and user-centered process design.
• Contribute to technical architectures and test concepts, linking technical requirements with a solid technical understanding, and ensuring delivery quality.
• Support sales in proposal and presales phases, develop viable technical concepts for tenders, and provide technical support for proposals, especially for large project and profile tenders.
• Monitor regulatory and technological developments in tax and finance administration, such as digitalization, register connection, and AI-supported automation, and translate them into marketable service offerings.

Requirements

• Completed university degree, ideally in economics, finance, computer science, administrative sciences, or a comparable field.
• In-depth understanding of tax and finance procedures in the public sector.
• Experience in large collaborative projects or digitalization programs in public administration, ideally in the KONSENS environment.
• Several years of experience in consulting and project work, ideally in large digitalization or modernization projects.
• Experience in the technical leadership of complex projects.
• Experience with change management, process consulting, or rollout support.
• Technical understanding and the ability to translate technical requirements into viable architectures.
• Drive for design and entrepreneurial thinking, combined with strategic foresight and operational implementation competence.
• Very good communication and presentation skills, confident demeanor at the decision-maker level.
• Very good German language skills, both written and spoken.
• Experience with legacy modernization in customs or finance administration is a plus.
• Technical understanding of procurement procedures is a plus.
• A strong network in tax or finance administration is a plus.
• Experience with testing, UX/UI, or near-shoring models is a plus.
