About the Role
Stikeman Elliott LLP is seeking a technologically savvy securities lawyer to join its Knowledge Management & Innovation Team. This role involves collaborating on practice resources, contributing to thought leadership, and supporting complex securities law matters using legal technology.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of knowledge and practice resources for the securities and capital markets practice.
- Stay current with legal, industry, and regulatory developments, sharing information and contributing to thought leadership.
- Provide legal advice and services on complex securities law matters to clients and internal teams.
- Identify opportunities for automation of legal resources and workflows, collaborating on the development of automated resources and apps.
- Drive innovation by contributing to legal technology selection, participating in pilots, and supporting lawyers in integrating new tools.
- Lead initiatives for substantive training and development of lawyers, including training on new legal technologies and driving adoption.
- Stay informed about new legal technologies and innovative solutions.
Requirements
- Law degree and membership in good standing with the Law Society of Ontario.
- At least 5 years of securities transactional experience at a large firm.
- Excellent academic credentials.
- Affinity for AI and technology, with an interest in exploring and troubleshooting new tools for legal challenges.
- Broad and deep technical legal knowledge, excellent business judgment, strong analytical and drafting skills, and problem-solving abilities.
- Demonstrated project management and organizational skills, with the ability to scope projects and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, balance competing demands, and be self-motivated, innovative, and flexible.
- Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and client service skills.
