About the Role
The Social Media Manager is a hands-on content creator and strategist responsible for leading Hennepin Arts’ social media presence, building and maintaining connections with audiences and community partners, and strengthening the organization’s visibility across digital channels. This role proactively plans, creates, publishes and evaluates social content that supports Hennepin Arts’ programs, performances, mission and brand.
Responsibilities
- Own Hennepin Arts’ organic social media presence and integrated content calendar across Facebook, Instagram, X, LinkedIn and planned roll-out of TikTok.
- Create and adapt platform-specific content from concept to finished asset, including copy, graphics, photography, mobile video, audio and short-form video editing, using Adobe Creative Suite or equivalent tools as appropriate.
- Lead social media planning for Hennepin Arts-presented shows and events, proactively working with marketing managers and show representatives to assess available assets, develop local content plans, secure approvals and communicate status.
- Implement Hennepin Arts’ social media strategy and content pillars tailoring content by channel.
- Manage social community engagement by monitoring comments and direct messages, responding to questions, addressing misinformation or inappropriate content, and actively participating in relevant local, community and national entertainment conversations.
- Build relationships and visibility through ongoing engagement with arts and culture organizations, sports organizations, community partners, city and state stakeholders, shows and industry sources.
- Establish and maintain a regular communication cadence with Development, Education and Workforce, and Programming, and execute contracted social media sponsorship deliverables in partnership with Development.
- Attend Hennepin Arts performances, programs and community activities as needed to capture timely original content.
- Use social listening and analytics to identify audience opportunities, measure performance against established engagement goals and develop reporting with the Director of Marketing and Communications.
- Develop compelling media materials, including pitches, press releases, media advisories and other content for distribution to media outlets.
- Execute publicity campaigns and media outreach in coordination with the Director of Marketing and Communications.
- Build and maintain relationships with relevant media contacts through responsive, accurate and professional communication.
- Track and report publicity results and earned media value to help evaluate campaigns and identify future opportunities.

- Ability to create, adapt and edit visual, written and video content for different social platforms and audiences.
