About the Role
Leverage strategic thinking, analytical rigor, and deep market insights to evaluate emerging opportunities, challenge assumptions, and support high-impact business decisions in Radiology. Translate complex market, scientific, and business developments into actionable strategies that drive long-term value creation and strengthen Bayer’s competitive position.
Responsibilities
- Drive the strategic assessment and prioritization of new growth opportunities in Radiology, with a particular focus on molecular imaging, by evaluating customer and patient needs, market dynamics, scientific advancements, competitive trends, reimbursement landscapes, and Bayer’s strategic fit.
- Develop opportunity theses, growth strategies, and value-creation pathways, including organic growth, partnerships, licensing opportunities, business development initiatives, and ecosystem collaborations.
- Build and maintain a robust fact base on molecular imaging and adjacent growth areas, covering technologies, clinical pathways, competitors, emerging business models, and value pools to support evidence-based decision making.
- Partner with cross-functional stakeholders across business, R&D, medical, commercial, regulatory, market access, product supply, finance, and business development to translate insights into actionable strategic choices.
- Identify critical uncertainties, define learning agendas, and establish clear decision points to efficiently mature strategic opportunities and investments.
- Support high-priority portfolio, innovation, business, and operating-model initiatives across Radiology by structuring complex challenges, developing hypotheses, and creating decision frameworks that enable effective problem solving.
- Conduct and guide rigorous qualitative and quantitative analyses, including market assessments, competitor evaluations, scenario planning, capability reviews, portfolio analyses, strategic fit assessments, and risk evaluations.
- Synthesize complex information into clear strategic implications, options, trade-offs, and recommendations for senior leadership and governance bodies.
- Strengthen decision quality by ensuring strategic recommendations are built on robust evidence, transparent assumptions, credible alternatives, and clearly defined decision criteria.
- Facilitate cross-functional discussions and strategic workshops, challenge assumptions constructively, align diverse stakeholder perspectives, and support informed decision making without exercising direct decision authority.
- Build trusted relationships with senior leaders and subject matter experts, communicate complex topics to diverse audiences, and integrate external perspectives where specialized expertise is required.
- Contribute to the continuous development of Bayer’s strategy capabilities by sharing methodologies, frameworks, best practices, and lessons learned across the organization.
Requirements
- Advanced degree in life sciences, medicine, pharmacy, engineering, business, economics, or a related field; a combination of scientific and business expertise is highly valued.
- Substantial experience in strategy, corporate development, management consulting, business development, portfolio management, innovation, or a similar strategic role within healthcare or life sciences.
- Hands-on experience in biotech M&A activities, including due diligence, asset evaluation, company assessments, and investment decision processes.
- Several years of experience in the molecular imaging industry in the areas of M&A, paired with a demonstrated ability to develop depth in new domains.
- Proven track record of leading complex strategic projects and supporting high-impact decisions in global, matrixed organizations.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, including hypothesis-driven thinking, market assessment, scenario planning, financial evaluation, and strategic decision analysis.
- Ability to integrate scientific, clinical, commercial, technological, financial, and operational perspectives into clear strategic recommendations.
- Excellent stakeholder management, facilitation, and executive communication skills, comfortable influencing senior leaders through expertise and credibility rather than authority.
