About the Role

As a Senior Finance BI Analyst, you will lead the design and delivery of Finance BI and analytics solutions. Your responsibilities include building and maintaining dashboards, performing deep-dive analysis, and ensuring stakeholders have accurate, timely, and trusted information for planning, forecasting, and decision-making. You will bridge the gap between Finance business needs and BI/data platforms like Power BI and the data warehouse, providing technical leadership and driving improvements in reporting, automation, data quality, and governance. The role also involves identifying and enabling opportunities to leverage AI, Generative AI, and tools like Microsoft Copilot to enhance Finance analytics, reporting, and productivity responsibly.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and ongoing enhancement of Finance dashboards and reports in Power BI.
  • Respond to ad hoc data, insight, and analysis requests from Finance, prioritizing demand and managing the delivery pipeline.
  • Identify, lead, and implement automation opportunities across recurring Finance reporting.
  • Develop and optimize SQL queries against the data warehouse (e.g., Redshift) for Finance datasets.
  • Establish and promote BI development standards, reusable components, and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance, peer review, and mentoring to other BI analysts.
  • Perform variance, trend, cohort, and driver-based analysis to explain financial performance.
  • Translate complex data into clear narratives, visualizations, and actionable recommendations.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and month-end processes with data and analytical inputs.
  • Investigate reporting anomalies, conduct root-cause analysis, and drive remediation.
  • Proactively identify emerging trends, risks, and opportunities within Finance data.
  • Partner with Finance leaders to translate commercial and financial questions into analytical approaches.
  • Identify and evaluate opportunities to apply AI and Generative AI to Finance BI, reporting, analysis, and operational processes.
  • Use AI-enabled capabilities, including Microsoft Copilot, to improve productivity and insight generation.
  • Develop and promote practical AI use cases for efficient data interaction and self-service analytics.
  • Evaluate AI-generated analysis, code, insights, and outputs for accuracy and financial relevance.
  • Ensure AI usage complies with organizational requirements for data security, privacy, governance, and responsible AI.
  • Stay informed on emerging AI and analytics capabilities and assess their application.
  • Support Finance teams in building AI literacy and adopting AI tools.
  • Reconcile and validate data across source systems to ensure a trusted source of truth.
  • Maintain clear documentation of data definitions, business logic, metrics, and report specifications.
  • Apply data governance, security, and access standards.
  • Take ownership of complex data quality and reporting issues, working with relevant teams to resolve root causes.
  • Promote consistent definitions and calculation methodologies across Finance reporting.
  • Ensure appropriate governance and validation controls are applied to AI-generated data and insights.
  • Build strong relationships with Finance, CoE, and IT to understand requirements and deliver solutions.
  • Act as a trusted BI and analytics advisor to Finance stakeholders.
  • Facilitate requirements gathering, UAT, and stakeholder sign-off for reporting.
  • Lead discussions with senior stakeholders to resolve complex reporting, data quality, and delivery issues.
  • Challenge requirements constructively where alternative approaches offer greater business value.
  • Provide user support, training, and guidance to Finance stakeholders for self-service.
  • Mentor and support less-experienced analysts and contribute to Finance BI capability development.

Requirements

  • Significant experience in data, business intelligence, or analytics roles, preferably supporting Finance, FP&A, or a commercial function, with demonstrated experience operating at a senior level.
  • Strong hands-on skills in Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, and dashboard design, with experience designing scalable enterprise reporting solutions.
  • Proficiency in SQL for querying, transforming, and validating large datasets, with experience working with cloud data platforms such as Redshift.
  • Solid financial acumen with the ability to interpret financial data including P&L, revenue, cost, variance, and margin analysis.
  • Advanced Excel skills with strong attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy and integrity.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to present insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and multiple concurrent requests.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex BI and analytics initiatives from requirements through development, validation, UAT, and implementation.
  • Experience identifying and implementing reporting automation and process improvement opportunities.
  • Practical understanding of AI and Generative AI technologies and their application to BI, Finance analytics, and business productivity, including tools such as Microsoft Copilot.
  • Understanding of responsible AI principles, including data privacy, security, governance, validation, and human oversight of AI-generated outputs.
  • Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills, with the ability to translate between Finance requirements and technical data/BI solutions.
  • Ability to mentor other analysts, provide technical guidance, and contribute to BI development standards and best practices.
  • Experience with AI-assisted analytics, natural-language data exploration, or Generative AI solutions within Finance or enterprise reporting environments.
  • Experience working with modern cloud data platforms and enterprise data models.
  • Experience delivering BI solutions in a complex enterprise environment involving Finance, Data, IT, and analytics teams.
