About the Role

Shape the development of one of the world's largest, global, and most innovative fiber networks. You will tackle hard, long-term network infrastructure problems to deliver network capacity at scale, working cross-functionally with the broader Network Engineering team.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development of long-term terrestrial network strategies aligned with Meta’s capacity, reliability, scalability, efficiency, and business objectives.
  • Frame ambiguous network and investment questions by defining strategic options, decision criteria, critical assumptions, and required analysis.
  • Assess capacity gaps, investment timing, and strategic opportunities using network, demand, market, supplier, operational, and financial data.
  • Build and challenge fit-for-purpose models, test critical assumptions, and ensure conclusions are reliable and decision-relevant.
  • Develop investment recommendations and business cases comparing alternatives across cost, risk, timing, optionality, reliability, and strategic fit.
  • Write clear, concise, decision-ready documents synthesizing complex evidence into coherent narratives, tradeoffs, recommendations, and asks for senior leaders.
  • Utilize AI-assisted tools with sound judgment to accelerate research, modeling, analysis, and synthesis, validating outputs and retaining accountability.
  • Build alignment across internal and external stakeholders, reconcile conflicting perspectives, clarify ownership, and drive decisions to closure.
  • Travel up to 30% of time; greater if remote.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • 6+ years of experience in network strategy, network planning, infrastructure investment, quantitative consulting, data analytics, or a related field.
  • 3 years of experience in strategy consulting, investment banking/research, or strategic planning with a telecommunications or subsea infrastructure focus.
  • Previous experience with financial, economic, or network-modeling skills, including scenario and sensitivity analysis and the ability to test critical assumptions.
  • Experience using complex datasets and analytical tools such as SQL, Python, spreadsheets, or equivalent methods to investigate questions and support decisions.
  • Analytical skills and ability to synthesize market and technical data into strategic plans.
  • Written and verbal communication skills, and experience creating and delivering to senior audiences.
  • Experience integrating AI or automation tools into investment analysis, portfolio tracking, or workflow optimization to drive measurable efficiency gains.
  • Knowledge of backbone and long-haul fiber network concepts including route design, IRU and lease structures, and the full capacity delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience with network capacity planning, demand forecasting, or traffic engineering fundamentals that inform investment sizing decisions.
  • Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews).
  • Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements).
  • Experience at a hyperscale technology company, major telecommunications carrier, or global network infrastructure provider.
