About the Role
Join a highly collaborative team in San Francisco building the cloud platform behind advanced radar systems. Design, build, and operate infrastructure and backend services to move mission-critical sensor data from field radars to operators. Scale the platform as the fleet of sensors, customers, and deployments grows.
Responsibilities
- Design and operate Azure infrastructure as code with Terraform, including networking, Azure Container Apps, managed databases, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Build and own high-throughput Python (FastAPI) services and their data layer (PostgreSQL/TimescaleDB, Redis, Cosmos DB) for ingesting and streaming real-time sensor data.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to define the architecture of the next generation of the platform.
- Own security, reliability, and observability across the platform, including identity and access, secrets management, network isolation, monitoring and alerting (Datadog), and incident response.
Requirements
- Built and operated production infrastructure in Azure, AWS, or GCP, defined in code with Terraform, Pulumi, Bicep, or CloudFormation.
- Run containerized production workloads (Docker) on managed platforms like Azure Container Apps, AWS ECS or Fargate, Google Cloud Run, or Kubernetes.
- Strong cloud networking fundamentals: virtual networks, subnets, routing, DNS, load balancers, private endpoints, and firewalls.
- Built and operated production backend services in Python, Go, or similar languages, understanding performance under load (concurrency, async I/O, connection pooling, resource limits).
- Fluent in distributed systems concepts: consistency, replication, partitioning, caching, back-pressure, idempotency, and graceful system failure.
- Scaled a production system beyond its original design and resolved issues encountered during scaling.
- Build securely by default, implementing least-privilege access, keeping secrets out of code, and maintaining patched, hardened systems, with the ability to explain associated trade-offs.
