About the Role
Off Leash K9 Training is seeking dedicated, self-motivated individuals passionate about dogs and committed to exceptional customer service to join our team in the NY Metro area. This independent contractor opportunity offers flexibility, the ability to work from home, and the chance to build a rewarding career working with dogs through Board & Train programs and private lessons.
Responsibilities
- Providing structured obedience training, including recall, leash manners, heel, sit, down, place, impulse control, and real-world distractions.
- Caring for Board & Train dogs in your home, including feeding, exercise, rest, health monitoring, and safe management.
- Conducting training outings in appropriate public environments.
- Providing daily client updates, including photos, videos, and progress reports.
- Maintaining accurate training documentation, including required inspection videos, weight records, and training progress.
- Conducting private lessons and teaching owners how to maintain their dog's training.
- Completing Board & Train turnover sessions and applicable client follow-ups.
- Communicating professionally with clients and our administrative team.
- Participating in community events and promotional opportunities when available.
- Continuing to develop your skills through ongoing education and trainer mentorship.
Requirements
- Must reside in or around the NY Metro area, including Manhattan, Queens, Brooklyn, Long Island, Jersey City, or surrounding communities.
- Must be able to safely accommodate approximately 1–3 client dogs in your home, with appropriate space for individual crating and management.
- Must have reliable transportation and be comfortable transporting dogs to training locations throughout your designated service area.
- Must have a smartphone and basic computer skills.
- Must be comfortable taking photos, recording training videos, and communicating through platforms such as WhatsApp.
- Must be available for weekday and weekend responsibilities, including the daily care of Board & Train dogs.
- Must have excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Must be comfortable working with dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments.
- Must be willing to learn and utilize our balanced training methods, including proper e-collar training techniques.
- Must be available to complete a required one-week, in-person onboarding program in Albany, NY.
- Must have a home environment suitable for safely boarding client dogs, in compliance with applicable local requirements.
