About the Role
Daedal Systems is looking for a Principal Scientist to be a senior contributor to the design and development of our industrialized plasma diagnostic platform. This platform will enable the deployment of plasma diagnostics across multiple architectures for fusion companies. You will be responsible for delivering accurate plasma diagnostic measurements, including Thomson Scattering, Vis-UV Spectroscopy, and X-ray Spectroscopy diagnostics.
Responsibilities
- Deliver accurate plasma diagnostic measurements, including Thomson Scattering, Vis-UV Spectroscopy, and X-ray Spectroscopy diagnostics.
- Mentor diagnostic physicists overseeing various diagnostic systems.
- Contribute to scientific strategy and direction.
- Operate as a senior scientific voice across multiple diagnostic disciplines.
Requirements
- Ph.D in experimental plasma physics or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrable track record of scientific excellence in plasma diagnostics.
- Direct experience in the fusion sector (academic, national laboratory, or commercial) at a senior scientist level.
- Strong record of designing, deploying, and validating diagnostic systems on real fusion or plasma devices.
- Willing and able to contribute to scientific strategy and direction.
- Comfortable operating as a senior scientific voice across multiple diagnostic disciplines.
- Based in Toronto or willing to relocate.
- Comfortable with travel to support client systems and partnerships around the globe, up to 15% of time, occasionally for 2+ weeks in a row.
