About the Role
Join Magic as a founding engineer to take ownership of infrastructure work, architecting systems for scaling to over 1,000 restaurants and expanding into new verticals. Loyalist, our operating system, processes live data from numerous third-party systems to manage over 40 million guest profiles and millions of personalized interactions annually.
Responsibilities
- Own AWS infrastructure including RDS, background jobs, caching, and networking.
- Manage the integration layer, including developing new POS integrations and collaborating with partner companies.
- Improve system observability to detect and diagnose failures.
- Scope and lead the migration of the background job orchestrator.
- Scope and contribute to the migration of analytical workloads to a purpose-built solution.
- Engage with customers to understand integration needs and discuss infrastructure implications.
- Collaborate closely with product management.
Requirements
- Production infrastructure experience with multi-tenant data at scale.
- Experience owning a background job system.
- Familiarity with AWS, Kubernetes, Postgres, Python/Django, Docker, Datadog, and IaC.
- Willingness to be the sole infrastructure owner on a small engineering team.
- Ability to drive direction and solutions independently.
- Curiosity about restaurants, hospitality, or the physical-world data layer.
- Experience staging at a customer restaurant.
