About the Role
Off Leash K9 Training is seeking dedicated, self-motivated individuals passionate about dogs and customer service to join their team in New York's Capital Region. This independent contractor opportunity offers flexibility and the chance to build a rewarding career working with dogs through Board & Train programs and private lessons.
Responsibilities
- Provide structured obedience training, including recall, leash manners, heel, sit, down, place, impulse control, and real-world distractions.
- Care for Board & Train dogs in your home, including feeding, exercise, rest, health monitoring, and safe management.
- Conduct training outings in appropriate public environments.
- Provide daily client updates, including photos, videos, and progress reports.
- Maintain accurate training documentation, including required inspection videos, weight records, and training progress.
- Conduct private lessons and teach owners how to maintain their dog's training.
- Complete Board & Train turnover sessions and applicable client follow-ups.
- Communicate professionally with clients and the administrative team.
- Participate in community events and promotional opportunities.
- Continue to develop skills through ongoing education and trainer mentorship.
Requirements
- Must reside in or around the Capital Region of New York, including Albany, Saratoga, Clifton Park, Colonie, East Greenbush, or surrounding areas.
- Must be able to safely accommodate approximately 1–3 client dogs in your home, with appropriate space for individual crating and management.
- Must have reliable transportation and be comfortable transporting dogs to training locations.
- Must have a smartphone and basic computer skills.
- Must be comfortable taking photos, recording training videos, and communicating through platforms such as WhatsApp.
- Must be available for weekday and weekend responsibilities, including the daily care of Board & Train dogs.
- Must have excellent communication, organizational, and customer service skills.
- Must be comfortable working with dogs of different breeds, sizes, ages, and temperaments.
- Must be willing to learn and utilize balanced training methods, including proper e-collar training techniques.
- Must be available to complete a required one-week, in-person onboarding program in the Albany, NY area.
