About the Role
Equinox is seeking an experienced Construction Project Manager to lead new club developments, managing projects from initial planning and budgeting through construction and closeout. This leadership role requires extensive field experience, strong budget management, and the ability to coordinate architects, engineers, and contractors while ensuring alignment with landlords and internal teams. The position focuses on overseeing project scope, costs, and quality, resolving field challenges, and upholding Equinox's premium standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead Project Execution: Direct general contractors and specialty vendors daily, holding them accountable for site safety, schedule compliance, and build quality.
- Own the Project Financials: Manage project budgets, forecasts, pay applications, and change orders, evaluating cost exposures and negotiating changes to protect the budget.
- Drive Pre-Construction: Partner on site evaluations, feasibility studies, due diligence, contractor bidding, bid leveling, and contract awards.
- Coordinate Design & Constructability: Review construction documents with internal design teams and external consultants to identify constructability conflicts, code issues, or departures from prototype standards.
- Enforce Luxury Quality Standards: Conduct regular site visits to protect design intent, inspecting high-end finishes including custom millwork, complex lighting, specialty tile, athletic flooring, and acoustic detailing.
- Manage Handoffs & Closeouts: Lead substantial-completion walks, punch-list resolution, equipment commissioning, and smooth handoffs to Club Operations and Facilities teams.
Requirements
- 5+ years of commercial construction project management experience, with a heavy emphasis on high-end commercial interiors.
- Proven experience owning multi-million dollar construction budgets, managing contracts, and negotiating change orders.
- A comprehensive understanding of commercial construction methods, sequencing, complex building drawings, and MEP/life-safety systems.
- Ability to travel extensively throughout the U.S. and internationally to lead active job sites.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Prior experience delivering luxury fitness, hospitality, high-end retail, or restaurant projects.
- Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Project.
- Professional certifications like PMP, CCM, or LEED credentials.
