About the Role
Grover is seeking a B2B Underwriter to join the Risk team at their Berlin HQ. This role involves deciding which businesses Grover partners with and on what terms, contributing to the company's growth across Europe by ensuring a healthy B2B portfolio and improving credit risk processes.
Responsibilities
- Review incoming B2B applications, analyze financials and bureau data, and decide on approvals, limits, and terms.
- Write concise and well-argued case notes for clear decision trails.
- Monitor existing customer accounts, handle limit increases, and respond to changes in customer situations.
- Propose new credit rules, thresholds, and data sources based on observed patterns.
- Collaborate with product and engineering teams to identify and automate credit checks.
- Track the performance of approved customers and share insights with the Risk team.
Requirements
- 2+ years of credit or underwriting experience assessing business customers at a bank, lender, leasing company, or fintech.
- Strong financial analysis skills, including the ability to quickly read balance sheets, P&Ls, and credit reports.
- Sound and confident judgment, with the ability to make clear decisions under time pressure and explain reasoning simply.
- A data-driven, hands-on mindset, comfortable with Excel or Google Sheets (SQL is a plus).
- Collaborative communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and communicate effectively, including saying no constructively.
- Fluent English. German or another European language is a strong plus.
