About the Role
The Whey Operator assists the Whey Evaporator and Dryer Operator in the whey processing operation.
Responsibilities
- Operate and clean the AMVR Evaporator in automatic and manual modes.
- Operate and clean the TFD and MSD spray dryers.
- Perform lab work as required.
- Recognize deficiencies in product.
- Operate equipment in preparation for cream shipments.
- Troubleshoot and solve any production problems during operation.
- Keep all records accurate and up to date.
- Maintain equipment and plant to meet regulatory agency requirements.
- Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
- Produce products exceeding customer quality and value expectations by adhering to Good Manufacturing Practices, Policies and Procedures outlined in the Safe Quality Food Program.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the manager.
Requirements
- Ability to adapt to change quickly.
- Ability to understand the basic operation of evaporator and dryer and be capable of making process adjustments to them.
- Basic computer skills required.
- Ability to constantly stand/walk; bend/flex/extend neck; frequently grip/reach/lift/pull with L/R hands.
- Ability to frequently handle material from floor-to-waist, waist-to-shoulder and pushing/pulling/carrying.
- Ability to work with product weight up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to perform repetitive work in a fast-paced production environment with average temperatures of 50-60 degrees F.
