About the Role
The Evergreen Kitchen Assistant will support the Evergreen Kitchen Coordinator in all tasks to ensure daily meals are provided to community members. This role is crucial for providing nourishment and a welcoming environment for youth, contributing to their journey and well-being.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Evergreen Kitchen Coordinator in all tasks involved in providing daily meals.
- Receive and lift daily deliveries.
- Clean dishes.
- Organize pantry.
- Serve meals.
- Cultivate excellent working relationships with community members, staff, food donors and suppliers.
- Foster cooperation, effective communication and unity of purpose between food services programs and other Evergreen Services programs.
- Maintain a clean, welcoming, user-friendly efficient kitchen environment.
Requirements
- Good English communication skills, both oral and written.
- Good interpersonal skills, conflict resolution skills, and problem solving skills.
- Able to follow instructions.
- Possess self-initiative and ability to work independently or with less supervision.
- Must be 18 years old or older.
- Able to commit to 30 hours a week.
- Food Handler Certification is a requirement.
- Demonstrated personal commitment to YSM’s principles of faith, mission and values.
