About the Role
This role provides expert technical guidance to customers, owning and resolving complex network security issues. You will advise on potential pitfalls, suggest automation for stability and security, and troubleshoot customer network environments including firewalls, VPNs, and Layer 4-7 issues. The position supports the Rackspace Cloud product portfolio and aims to create customer loyalty through exceptional service.
Responsibilities
- Configure, troubleshoot, and take escalations for Firewalls & Load Balancers, Windows/Linux system administration, or Cloud Native Tooling
- Create documentation for support and operations tasks
- Configure, plan, install, maintain, and optimize network systems, equipment, and applications
- Solve engineering problems through ownership of customer requests and issues
- Design, schedule and coordinate maintenances
- Engineer and implement customized security solutions
- Collaborate with Account Managers and Business Development Consultants
- Collaborate and share knowledge with other Engineers and Administrators
- Mentor and train lower level Rackers
Requirements
- Proven experience (7+ years) in Networking/Network Security
- Requires in-depth conceptual and practical knowledge in own job discipline and basic knowledge of related job disciplines
- Solves complex problems
- Works independently, receives minimal guidance
- May lead projects or project steps within a broader project or may have accountability for on-going activities or objectives
- Acts as a resource for colleagues with less experience
